It’s interesting that researchers have discovered that if trees grow up in an environment where they don’t have to withstand any wind pressure, their roots don’t develop properly and eventually can’t withstand their own weight. They have a deficiency in what they call “stress wood,” which is essentially the trees’ reaction to wind. Stress wood helps the tree grow stronger and more solidly. Without it, the trees can’t survive. The wind is essential for the tree to flourish and become what it was created to be.
In the same way, without the pressure of difficulties, we wouldn’t develop properly. Don’t complain about the testing. Every day you stand, it’s strengthening you. Your roots are going down deeper. You’re developing courage, strength, and fortitude. Every time you praise when you could complain, you’re developing stress wood. When you keep doing the right thing when the wrong thing is happening, your core is getting strengthened to carry the full weight of God’s blessing. Pass the test and stand tall, strong and flourishing.
Father, thank You that the difficulties and pressures I face are strengthening and are working in me a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Thank You that they are developing stress wood in the core of my life. I believe I’m going to stand tall and flourish. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Whenever you’re waiting for something to change, perhaps for your health or finances to improve, once you’ve believed, you don’t have to figure everything out. When you don’t see anything changing, you’ll be tempted to worry, but stay at rest. When you’re at rest, you show God that you trust Him. Maybe you’re thinking it would have happened by now. You could be worried and complaining, but instead you’re thanking God, you’re declaring His promises, you’re being your best each day. When you’re at rest, you’re in faith. That’s what allows God to work.
But if you’re upset over what’s not changing, worried about your finances and can’t sleep because your child is off course, that’s a sign that you’ve stopped believing. You need to enter into God’s rest. Come back to a place of peace. You can’t trust God and be worried at the same time. When you’re at rest, you know God is in control, you know all things are going to work for your good, and you know what He started He’s going to finish.
Father, thank You for providing a place where I can rest in Your grace and strength to fight my battles. Thank You that I can stay in peace and know that You will make things happen that I never could. I believe that You are in control and that You’ll work it all out for good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

David could have just said, “Lord, you will bless the righteous.” But he added the word “surely.” He was saying, “I’m absolutely convinced that You will bless me. I’m fully persuaded that what You promised is on the way.” You need to have some “surely”s. “Surely, I’ll get well. Surely, I’ll pay my house off. Surely, I’ll meet the right person. Surely, this problem is turning around. Surely, new doors are opening. Surely, I’ll come through this crisis better than I was before.” It’s not, “Maybe…there’s a good chance, if the medicine works, if I get the promotion, or if these people like me.” No, you need to add the surely; you have to be convinced.
If you have the “if”s, you’re going to talk yourself out of it. “Surely” means giving up is not an option, not believing is not something you even consider. Your face is set. You’re not moved by negative reports, not discouraged by how impossible it looks, not complaining about how long it’s taking. You know what God promised is on the way.
Father, thank You that You have put Your favor upon me and that it surrounds me as with a shield at all times. Thank You that You are surely going to bless me. I am fully persuaded that what You promised is on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

No giant is too big for God—no disease too incurable, no addiction too overwhelming, or no obstacle too insurmountable. When you know that the HOW of getting things done is not up to you, you live in faith, knowing that God will manifest in your life.
At seventeen years old, David heard the giant Goliath taunting the Israelite army. Goliath was twice David’s size, the Philistine’s most skilled warrior, wearing a full set of armor. David had no military experience, no armor, no sword, just a slingshot. The HOW seemed impossible. But David understood that the HOW wasn’t up to him. He said, in effect, “Goliath, the odds look like they're against me, but I have an advantage. I know who I am. I belong to the Most High.”
He didn’t focus on the HOW, he focused on the WHO, and he brought Goliath down.
When you know you belong to the Most High God, you’ll defeat giants.
When you face situations that you don’t see how they can work out,
you shift your perspective from the HOW to the WHO.
There’s no giant too big for Him—no sickness too great, no addiction too powerful, no obstacle too strong. When you know the HOW is not up to you, you live from a place of faith, knowing God will show out in your life.
Prayer for Today
Father, thank You that when the challenges in my way look bigger, stronger, and more powerful than I can handle, I can focus on how great You are. Thank You that I am Your child and it’s not up to me. I believe You being for me is more than anything that comes against me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

In James 3, it compares the tongue to a rudder of a ship. Even though the tongue is a small part of the body, it’s steering your life. What you’re saying is determining which direction you go. The good news is, you have control over your tongue. The next time you’re tempted to say something negative about yourself, your future, your children, or your finances, zip it up. Don’t steer toward defeat.
Are you sending your words out in the direction you want your life to go? The psalmist David says, “God will crown the year with a bountiful harvest, even the hard places will overflow with abundance.” You can go around saying, “This year looks like another tough year,” or you can say, “Father, thank You that even in a famine, even in a downturn, I am favored. Thank You that You’re not limited by my circumstances or the economy. Thank You that I am prosperous and I will overflow with joy, peace, and strength.”
That’s steering your ship toward increase, steering your ship toward overflow.
Father, thank You that You created me to use my words to steer my life in a way that’s in agreement with You. Help me to not just zip my lips before I speak words that could harm, but to use my words to edify. I believe that You will help me to speak in a way that leads to victory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Jesus was at a wedding celebration in Galilee that lasted several days. Everything was going great until they ran out of wine. Up to this point, Jesus had not performed any miracles in public, but He told the staff to fill six large waterpots with water. I can imagine them thinking, “What good is that going to do?” But when the host tasted the water that Jesus turned to wine, he said the bridegroom had saved the best till then.
Notice how God works: If they had not run out of the good wine, they would never have tasted the best wine. God saves the best for next. You may feel like you’re running out of opportunities or running out of the resources to make ends meet. This may sound odd, but you’re in a good place. When you come to the end, God steps in and says, “I’ve saved the best for now.” The best position, the best relationships, the best in your finances, the best in your health is yet to come.
Father, thank You that I can stay at peace when it feels like I’m running out of something that’s been important to me. Thank You that the best wine is coming, that You bring the extraordinary out of the ordinary. I will be faithful and look forward to Your very best. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Words are powerful. They have the ability to set the direction for our lives. When they’re spoken over us by someone who has authority, such as a parent, a coach, or a mentor, they can determine our destiny. The reason some people aren’t reaching their potential is they’ve never had blessings spoken over them. They’ve never had anyone declare what they can become, who God says they are, and how they have seeds of greatness. In today’s Scripture, the prophet Isaiah went around declaring God’s favor, freedom, and victory. He says that all those who would receive this declaration, those who would let these words take root, would see it come to pass.
Hundreds of years later, Jesus read this same declaration to the people in the synagogue in Nazareth. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me to declare…” Jesus declares victory, abundance, healing, and freedom over you. If you receive it, He will put you on a path to greater joy, better health, stronger relationships, to new levels of your destiny.
Prayer for Today

Over three hundred years after David died, eight generations later, his descendant King Hezekiah and the city of Jerusalem were surrounded by a huge Assyrian army. It looked as though Hezekiah was done, but God sent an angel who destroyed 185,000 of the enemy troops. In a split second the army was defeated and the nation was saved. I can imagine Hezekiah asking, “God, what did I do to deserve this favor?” God answered, in effect, “Hezekiah, it wasn’t anything you did. It was for the sake of my servant David. He stored up mercy for you three hundred years ago. You’re walking in the blessing that he deposited into your account."
Be a David. Start a blessing.👍 You can pass down blessings, favor, generosity, and faithfulness for generations to come. 📈 Or you can pass down dysfunction, bitterness, and mediocrity. 😩 Start the blessing, start the favor, start the freedom. God is counting on you to take your family to a new level. Because of your faithfulness, they’re going to go further, accomplish more, and become all they were created to be.

We turn on the news these days and hear about how bad this or that is, the divisiveness in politics, the unrest in our society. If you allow the negative to get in you, the division, the disrespect, the anger, it’s going to pollute your thoughts, steal your joy, and make you sour. You have to be proactive. What are you watching and listening to? Is it building you up, making you more positive, more hopeful, or is it tearing you down, stressing you out, making you upset? Life is hard enough without adding all these negative things that make it more difficult.
The Scripture says that God has made you to reign in life through Jesus Christ. When negative things come, remember that you’re the ruler. You have the authority to decide what you allow in. Are you going to dwell on the offense? Are you going to hang around the person who’s pulling you down? Are you going to stay focused on the bad break and live in self-pity? It’s up to you. You rule over your kingdom. 🏰🤴 👸

If you judge your life by something negative that is happening today, you may feel as though God has forgotten about you and get discouraged. But the Scripture says that God is transforming you from glory to glory, that the path of the righteous gets brighter and brighter. That means He already has a solution to the problem that’s holding you back. He’s already arranged restoration for that loss, a new beginning for that setback, promotion for that injustice. It’s already on the schedule. It’s just a matter of time before you see the light break through to full day. ☀️
When the lies come saying, “God has forgotten about you. It’s never going to work out. You’ve seen your best days,” just say, “No, thanks. This situation may be difficult, it’s not fair, but I know that this is not how my story ends. Favor is in my future, good breaks are headed my way, the right people are tracking me down. God is going to bring me out better, transformed, promoted, healthier, and to new levels of my destiny.”
Father, thank You that my name is written on Your hands and that it’s impossible for You to forget me. The enemy is a bully. Bullies are loud, intimidating, liars, and try to threaten you to control you and keep you down. You have to stand up to the enemy and say, “Your intimidation and threats don’t move me. You have no power over me. I know who I am, and I know whose I am. You may seem big, but God and I are a majority. What He’s destined for my life will come to pass. I will not live worried or let your lies play in my mind.”
The way you defeat the enemy is by saying what God says about you. When the enemy says, “You’ll never break out and rise higher,” you have to declare, “The path of the righteous gets brighter and brighter, and that’s my path. My greatest victories are still in front of me.” When you hear the lie, “You’ll never break the addiction,” tell the enemy, “I am surrendered to God. In Jesus, I am free, and I will become who I was created to be.”

When Jesus went around healing the sick, curing the lepers, and teaching with great authority and wisdom, great crowds followed Him. People looked at His family background, and they couldn’t understand it. They asked, “His father was just a carpenter, nothing special. How can his son be doing miracles and be this influential? Where does Jesus get the wisdom to teach so powerfully?” They were looking at His natural father, at His background and training. They didn’t realize who His Heavenly Father was.
Sometimes life will tell you that you’re average, that you’ve reached your limits, that you’ve gone as far as you can. “Look at your family. There’s nothing special about you. You can’t do anything great.” That may be true in the natural, but you have another Father. No discredit to your natural father, but your Heavenly Father is the giver of all good gifts. Do you realize that one thing that can easily stunt your growth is the people with whom you’re spending time. You need to evaluate your friendships. Are they making you better, pushing you up higher, inspiring you to reach your dreams? Or are they causing you to compromise, to be mediocre, to take the easy way out? The Scripture says you’re going to become like the people you continually associate with. It also says, “If you walk with wise people, you will become wise.” If the people you associate with gossip, complain about the boss, are unfaithful in relationships, and hard to get along with, do yourself a favor and find some new friends. Spirits are transferable. You may not realize it, but they’re blocking your growth and limiting your potential. You have to make the change.

God gave Abraham the promise of a son when he was seventy-five years old. Even though both he and Sarah were too old to have a child, faith rose in Abraham’s heart. Twenty-five long years went by during which he had plenty of reasons to give up on the promise, but the Scripture says, “In hope against hope Abraham believed.” He went from “I believe” to “I still believe.” He had a made-up mind, and when he was one hundred years old, he and Sarah had their son.
God is looking for “I still believe” people. Maybe you believed God’s promise but nothing’s changing, no doors have opened, you’ve been told no over and over. Thoughts tell you, “It’s too late. When you keep God first, He puts on you an anointing of the oil of joy to which nothing can stick. You're like a nonstick baking pan. Disrespect will come, and people will say hurtful things, but the good news is that you have a nonstick anointing. You can let that go, and it will slide right off you and have no effect. You could be offended when your coworker leaves you out and plays politics, but you have the oil of joy and just let it go. It’s significant that Samuel anointed David to be king in front of his father and brothers. His father hadn’t believed in him and had left him out in the shepherds’ fields when Samuel came. His brothers made fun of him and tried to make him feel small. David showed that if you become deaf to others’ negative comments and attitudes toward you, God will bless you in front of the people who tried to push you down. He will honor you in front of those who said you don’t have what it takes. God knows how to prepare a table for you in the presence of your enemies. He is not going to promote you in private, but He’ll promote you where those who didn’t believe in you will see you honored, in new levels of influence and favor.

In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus talks about the seed that falls in stony ground. He says the stony ground is like those who receive His word with joy, but their roots are shallow. They believe for a while, but they wilt when the hot winds of testing blow. You can’t become who you were created to be without going through hot winds of testing—times when you feel overwhelmed, when you’re doing the right thing but it’s not improving, when someone does you wrong. That’s not just a random challenge or bad luck; you’re in the hot winds of testing.
How deep do your roots go? How you respond in the difficult times will determine whether you come out bitter or better. 💪👊 Don’t let the hot winds of testing cause you to fall apart. If you pass the test, keep doing the right thing, keep being good to people, keep letting God fight your battles, because your roots go down deep, God will not only turn it around, but He’ll bring you out better. 📈
